4th Edition of NMUNC
Dear Delegates, Press, Chairs, members of the Logistics team and others, it is with a heavy heart that the Secretariat announces the Portuguese National MUN Conference 2021 will have to be held online.
As you all know, the Covid-19 pandemic is still very much present, especially in Lisbon. Cases are growing at an alarming rate and the “Delta” variant is of big concern to us younger generations that haven’t been vaccinated yet. It was informed to us today, in response to an evaluation request of our Safety Measures Protocol, sent on the 4th of May, that the Portuguese Health Entities strongly recommended the Conference should not be held in-person.
We are aware of how disturbing and belated this announcement is, but we can assure you that the Conference shall be no less amazing. The Conference will receive some wonderful guest speakers renowned for their work in international organizations, law and diplomatic affairs. We will also grant excellent awards, two for each committee, namely for “Best Diplomacy Award” and “Best Position Paper”.
We have decided to reimburse ⅓ of the conference fee to all participants, since some costs have been cut.
Our goal remains the same: that you enjoy this conference as much as possible, that you learn about the UN, about the world and other countries, that you practice your soft skills, meet wonderful people and most importantly, have fun. It’s been an absolute pleasure organizing this Conference for almost a year now, and will do so until the very last day of the event, making sure that all goes well.
We take this opportunity to thank our official partners and the venues where the Conference would have been held, if the circumstances were different, and those who have made an effort to adapt to the new reality of the event.
We thank all our participants for their interest in the NMUNC’21, we are honoured and hope to live up to your expectations. See you soon!
