Dear Sponsors, Speakers, Delegates, Chairs, Observers, Faculty Advisors, PressTeam and LogisticsTeam,
The LisboMUN Association has taken the decision of cancelling the II edition of the Lisbon International Model United Nations Conference, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After considering several options, such as having the conference take place in July or October, attentively reading the feedback you gave us through the form you completed in March, carefully following the evolution of the spread of the virus, as well as the advice given by the World Health Organization and the Portuguese Directorate-General of Health, we came to the conclusion that the situation is far from safe and secure enough for us to hold an International Conference with participants from all corners of the world.
This decision saddens us deeply, as many members of our Secretariat are finishing University and will not be able to be part of any future conferences, the LisboMUN Association, as we know it probably saddens you to. We had planned a high-level conference for you, with a wide range of Speakers, relevant and current topics and unforgettable social events. More than anything, we wanted it to have taken place the way we had worked so hard to come true. We speak to you personally when we say we feel your frustration.
Nevertheless, we have not stopped working, and our focus now will be to ensure that the refund process will go smoothly. You can find all information regarding the refund process and terms here. You can also find here the official transparency charts developed by the LisboMUN Association board. We know many of you might not be fully satisfied with what we are offering, but it truly was the best we could manage since we had to postpone the Conference two weeks before it was supposed to have taken place – most of the payments linked to the Conference had already been made and we were unable to receive any of the money back. Please read the documents carefully, especially the FAQs that might have answers to some of your questions. Do feel free to email us with any doubts you may have.
We do not know at this point if we will be able to organize another edition of LisboMUN in 2021. Our priority is to ensure safety for all participants – something we can not guarantee right now. We will be sharing updates over on our social media in case you are interested in coming for a future edition of the Conference.
Finally, we would like to thank you for choosing LisboMUN. Even though the event couldn’t take place and had to be canceled, we wish you all the best and hope to meet you in the future. Until then, stay safe.
